Facelift & Mini-Facelift

Facial Rejuvenation Surgery in Westchester, New York

Loose, tired skin is inevitable as you get older. However, your lifestyle could contribute to premature aging, such as an unhealthy diet that lacks essential nutrients combined with sun and pollutant exposure. Some cosmetic products can also cause multiple skin aging issues. From jowls to deep facial folds, loose, sagging skin can have a significant impact on your appearance and profile. A facelift can reduce deep lines and wrinkles on the face and neck where the skin loses elasticity and volume. Our triple-board-certified cosmetic surgeon, Dr. Victoria Karlinsky-Bellini, offers the facelift and mini-facelift to rejuvenate your appearance.

If you struggle with facial lines, wrinkles, or volume loss, contact Westchester Cosmetic Surgical Arts today at (914) 295-2662 to see if the facelift or mini-facelift is right for you.

What to Expect From Your Facelift

Contemporary facelift techniques avoid the wind-blown look by bringing the deeper structures below the skin into a more youthful location. Dr. Karlinsky-Bellini will discuss your options and determine whether the facelift, mini-facelift, or another facial procedure or treatment can accomplish your cosmetic goals. Candidates for either surgery should be in overall good health and discuss their full medical history during the initial consultation.

The full facelift, or rhytidectomy, addresses these visible signs of aging:

  • Loose, sagging skin
  • Pronounced fold lines around the nose and mouth
  • Facial volume loss
  • Drooping skin and excess fat such as a “double chin” or “turkey neck”

The facelift procedure involves small incisions near the ears along the hairline to give Dr. Karlinsky-Bellini access to the skin and muscles. These incisions are placed in a way that leaves you with inconspicuous, minimal scarring. Minor liposuction may be utilized to remove localized fat. The conventional facelift surgery lifts the skin off the face to surgically tighten the underlying facial tissues and remove or reposition excess skin tissue.

Westchester Cosmetic Surgical Arts strives to provide individualized care, so your facelift procedure will be customized to suit your concerns. Dr. Karlinsky-Bellini will focus on removing the excess skin on the neck, chin, and cheeks. Facelift surgery typically takes three to four hours to complete, and general anesthesia is used. However, local anesthetic may be another option combined with a sedative, so you remain relaxed.

You will not need to stay overnight, and Dr. Karlinsky-Bellini gives her cell phone number to patients so you can reach out with any questions or concerns during your recovery. There will likely be bruising, swelling, and discomfort following your facelift, which typically dissipates during the first few days or weeks of healing. Facelift results are immediate and can last for 10-15 years, depending on your lifestyle and genetics.

The facelift focuses on the lower two-thirds of a person’s visage and does not address the brow or eye areas, which is why some patients choose to have a brow lift or eyelid surgery to rejuvenate their complexion further. In some instances, Dr. Karlinsky-Bellini may recommend following up with dermal fillers to expand your results and restore lost volume.

What to Expect From Your Mini-Facelift

A mini-facelift offers different results from a full facelift. The mini rhytidectomy is an excellent procedure for patients who would like to see more significant results than fillers can provide but do not require the drastic changes of a full facelift. Dr. Karlinsky-Bellini often recommends the mini facelift for those who desire less invasive but highly-effective facial rejuvenation.

Most mini facelift candidates are between 40 and 50 and have early jowling (double chin or turkey neck) and minimal signs of aging in the neck. The goal is to improve the central lower face and the upper neck. The mini-facelift procedure doesn’t address the forehead, brows, or eyelid areas.

As with any surgery, there are risks of excessive bleeding, infection, and nerve damage and potential general anesthesia complications. The best way to counter these risks is to choose a highly-qualified cosmetic surgeon for your facelift or mini-facelift.
